Shatter (2004)

This is a fairly intense scrolling shooter that I developed over the course of a couple weeks during high school. Graphically, it's an Area Flat knockoff, but there are several original elements to the gameplay. The player can choose one of a few ships to pilot, each with its own abilities and special move. Also, the game is not "scripted" --it'll continue to get more hectic until you finally die.

Shatter was my first shooter-related game, and the first project where I decided to focus more on the programming than on the graphics-- something that turned into a definite characteristic of my later projects. Due to its surprising popularity among scrolling-shooter fans, Shatter became a precursor to the more fully-realized project Terav.

Unfortunately the game does not feature original sound. I spent so little time on this project that I had stronger interests by that stage of development. It is the only game showcased on this website not to include original sound.

There was an online hiscore table, hosted by a friend of mine, but I believe his website has since vanished (and him too!).
