Cajolery in B Minor (2009)

This is the first piece I've completed for full (double winds) orchestra. It is the final project for the orchestration class offered at Stanford. It's very short-- under four minutes-- because we wrote our projects to be sightread by the Stanford Symphony Orchestra.

They did sightread it, and I have provided a recording of their second try. Obviously, several details are missing (there was no bass clarinet available that night, and an oboe solo was omitted), but you can hear the direction of the song. The orchestra is very talented and overall I think the take was successful.

Incidentally, none of their percussionists showed up either, so the recording features me playing bass drum and glockenspiel and Lucas Johnson (also in the class) on snare, gong, and crash cymbals.

The orchestra was conducted by my orchestration professor, Giancarlo Aquilanti.
